The Land of Five Rivers, Punjab, is described as the land of the Gurus, Pirs and the Warriors. It is the Cradle of Human Civilization, Sword Arm of India and the Bedrock of Wisdom that emerged out of the confluence of the man and the nature, symbolizing the unity of man, the unity of thought and the unity of spiritual experience. The cultural heritage of the region is not only one of the most ancient but it is also one of the most extensive and varied. To it have contributed, throughout the ages, many races and people, who have either temporarily come into contact with the land of 'Five Rivers', or have permanently settled within her borders and helping to evolve a distinctive Punjabi Culture, the keynote of which is synthesis on the-basis of eternal values.

The culture of Punjab, from among the cultures of the world, has its own unique fragrance. It is unmatched. The scent of this fertile land is such in which the warmth of you-are-my-own is inborn. The Punjabi Culture is reflected in its folk dances, folk songs, arts and crafts. Punjabis whose open-mindedness has become proverbial hold their unique tradition of hospitality high in their estimation as well as in their values of life. In addition to the Hindus , Muslims and Sikhs, the numerous ethnic groups that came to Punjab have contributed to the growth of its composite culture . The rich cultural heritage of Punjab gives a clarion call to peace and prosperity .

The Punjabis are known the world over for their dash , daring and dynamism . Their innate resilience has helped them overcome one crisis after another . An openness and a readiness for restructuring an individual and collective levels have been the essence of Punjabi life- style , the core of Punjabiat. Punjabi people believe in earning honest living through hard labour and in sharing the fruits of this labour with others without expecting any returns.
